For Med Students, By Med Students
Astrocram provides high-yield, original question banks designed by and for medical students based on real-world medical curricula. Dozens of medical school topics are covered in MS1, providing more than 8,040 questions across all topics with hundreds of new questions added weekly — plus fully integrated, spaced-repetition flashcards built from every question bank.
(MS2 coming soon)
Astrocram natively supports Anki remotes — no add-ons, no setup. Remote already paired? Press its center button right now and flip the example flashcard below.
Fully Integrated Spaced-Repetition Flashcards
Every Astrocram question bank doubles as a flashcard deck. Rate each card Again, Hard, Good, or Easy and FSRS — the modern spaced-repetition algorithm behind Anki — learns each card's difficulty and times its return so your review time goes exactly where it counts. Study individual decks, review everything due today, and set the retention target that matches how you learn.
Clear Backlogs, Skip the Pileup
In every other flashcard app, a missed week piles overdue cards onto one crushing review day. On Astrocram, one button respreads your entire backlog evenly across a timeframe you control — and you see exactly where every card lands before you commit.
Customize Your Study
Sort by chronological weeks or alphabetical topics, select single subjects, or combine multiple categories for an intense multidisciplinary challenge tailored to your specific curriculum.
Modular Quizzes
Build each quiz exactly the way you want — set how many questions you get, mix topics across weeks and subjects, and filter by new, missed, correct, or favorited questions for a session tailored precisely to you.
Turn Your Data Into Higher Scores
Every answer sharpens the picture. See your overall accuracy, subject and topic breakdowns, and a score trend that climbs across attempts, so your limited hours go straight to the material dragging your grade down. Spot the weak topics, watch them rise as you drill them, keep a daily streak building, and walk into test day knowing exactly where you stand.
A Bank Behind Every Topic
Each topic is supported by a dedicated, comprehensive question bank built to reinforce the material in depth rather than at surface level. Browse by week and subject to jump straight to whatever your class is covering — from Superficial Anatomy to Primary Care — and each card lays out its title, focus, and question count, so you know exactly how much practice is waiting before you begin.
A Compendium of Knowledge
A growing library spanning every MS1 block — with new question banks added weekly.
Built Around Proven Learning Methods
Astrocram is designed to reinforce durable memory, improve retention across systems, and prepare you for board-style clinical reasoning.
| Method | How Astrocram Uses It |
|---|---|
| Active Recall | Considered the most effective study method according to research, this technique strengthens memory and makes recall faster over time. |
| Interleaving Topics | Combining multidisciplinary topics into a single quiz enhances recall beyond simple recognition, improving memory in various circumstances. |
| Exam-Style Questions | Mimicking exam conditions improves familiarity and speed of decision making under stress, leading to better test scores based on transfer-appropriate processing. |
| Spaced Repetition | Reviewing flashcards at expanding intervals moves knowledge into durable long-term memory — resurfacing the cards you miss sooner and the ones you know less often, so every minute of review is spent where it matters. |

Display question banks related to osteopathic principles, manipulative treatment, and osteopathic theory integrated throughout the curriculum.
Off: choose/change answers, then review after Submit. On: clicking an answer immediately reveals correct/incorrect choices and explanations for that question, while final submission still requires pressing Submit.
Shrink the topic selectors on the Quizzes and Flashcards pages so each one shows only its title, fitting more topics on screen at once. Turn this off to bring back each card's description, question count, and flashcard review counters.
Shrink the top header to a slim, background-free strip — the ASTROCRAM title and account buttons reduce toward the size of the menu icons, leaving more room for content. Applies on every page and is saved to your account.
Clear all questions you have previously marked as favorites, removing them from the Favorites filter repository. Questions marked: None
Clear all questions you have previously marked as undesirable, making them available again in future study sessions. Questions marked: None
Clear seen counts, correctness stats, and attempt history across all saved topic combinations, plus your flashcard review schedule and review counts. This also resets your topic Bling colors and wipes the Analytics page, so your quiz and flashcard performance charts start fresh.

Adaptive Scheduling (FSRS)
Astrocram schedules reviews with FSRS, the leading modern spaced-repetition algorithm. It learns each card's difficulty and memory stability from your ratings, then times the next review so your recall stays at the target you set below.
How well you want to know your cards when they come up. 90% is the recommended balance — higher means noticeably more daily reviews, lower means fewer reviews but more forgetting.
No card waits longer than this between reviews, no matter how well you know it. Keep it near your course horizon — 180 days suits a two-semester year.
How does FSRS compare to our previous scheduler? See the benchmark
Example result: at the default 90% retention target, a simulated student needed 29% fewer reviews (527 vs 745) over an eight-week exam block while keeping exam-day recall above 94%.
The test: 120 flashcards introduced over two weeks, then studied daily for eight weeks with an exam on day 56. Both schedulers were driven by the same simulated student memory (the FSRS-6 model, calibrated on ~350 million real flashcard reviews) with identical grading behavior — only the scheduling differed. Results are the average of 20 randomized runs.
| Scheduler | Total reviews | Exam-day recall | Cards below 80% | Final-week load |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Legacy Engine | 745 | 97.0% | 0.2 | 23 |
| FSRS @ 95% retention | 696 (−7%) | 96.8% | 0.4 | 32 |
| FSRS @ 90% (default) | 527 (−29%) | 94.1% | 0.3 | 20 |
| FSRS @ 85% | 481 (−35%) | 94.7% | 0.5 | 16 |
The legacy engine reached high recall by over-reviewing every card at the same fixed rate; FSRS lets you choose where to sit on the retention-versus-workload curve. The simulation's memory model is itself FSRS-calibrated, so treat exact percentages as illustrative rather than guaranteed.
Restore the desired retention (90%) and maximum interval (180 days) above to their default values.
Clear the saved spaced-repetition review schedule for every flashcard deck. All cards return to new and today's review count is reset.
Anki Remote Setup
Remotes work out of the box — no configuration needed, and they function during flashcard reviews only. You can skip this section entirely unless you want custom keybinds.
Bluetooth study remotes (Anki Remote, Scope Remote, camera clickers, and similar) pair with your device as a keyboard, so they work in Flashcards mode with no extension or app. The standard shortcuts — Space to flip, 1–4 or Z/X/C/V to grade — keep working unless you remap one of those keys below.
Default buttons on an Anki/Scope remote (KEY mode):
- X (center) sends Space → Flip / Show Answer
- B (top) sends 1 → Grade: Again
- Y (left) sends 2 → Grade: Hard
- A (right) sends 4 → Grade: Easy
- No face button grades Good — but the joystick (right sends @, left sends U), START (sends Y), and SELECT (sends H) are unused here: map one to Grade: Good below.
To remap, click Set Button on an action, then press the button on your remote. Any button can be remapped — including ones that send the standard keys; a custom mapping replaces that key's standard action until you clear it.
On: the Flip button does double duty — the first press reveals the answer, and pressing the same button again grades the card Good and advances. Especially handy on an Anki Remote, where no face button grades Good: the center button alone can carry a whole review session. Off (default): the Flip button only flips the card, and grading always uses the four grade buttons or their keys.
